The Inquisitive Cow: Characters

This cast list is a work in progress. In due course I hope to expand the list and include a list of appearances of the characters.

Augustine Squirrel

Patriarch of the Confier Squirrels. He has built a scale copy of the ancient city of Petra at the foot of the largest oak tree in the Wood.
Aunt Wellingtonia
Gerrie's aunt, lives in Devon. She is a keen historian with a special interest in the Raj.
Bertie Pig
A friend of Gerrie's who loves escaping from wherever he is. Not very bright.
Betty Cow
A friend of Gerrie's.
Capitalist Cow
Real name Algernon. Son of Aunt Wellingtonia Runs a clotted cream business.
Church Cat
Her first name is Harriet.
Cow sticks
Game played by the dúnadan and Gerrie Cow. As with pooh sticks, itinvolves throwing sticks into a river on one side of a bridge and then moving to the other to see which comes out first. The winner gets to ask the loser a question which may or may not require research.
Cuddly Bottom
a village south of Hobbles Regis.
Daddy Cow
MetMummy cow. Met Gerrie's mum on a moon lit night at a barn dance where Cheek-to-Cheek was being played. Disagrees with his wife over whether Fred Astaire's or Ella Fitzgerald's version is better.
Farmer Bill
Gerrie's owner. Bluff West Countryman. Appears only rarely.
Farmer Bill's home
Made of Portland Stone. In the barn next to it is a mass spectometer built by Augustine Squirrel and Jenny Wren.
Farmer Bill's Merry Wife
Appears to be a linguist.
Farmer Gill
A friend of Farmer Bill's. Known to be fussy - she makes people wear boots when they enter the barn.
Farmer Hobble
Aunt Wellingtonia's posh owner.
Farmer Phil
Farmer Bill's neighbour. Phil was also the name of Gerrie's brother who mysteriously disappeared while being taken for a walk.
Freddie the Fresian
A friend or relative of Gerrie's who lives in Shropshire. Part of of Gerrie's network of radio transmitting cows.
Georgie Cow
Gerrie's London based cousin. Very heavily tattooed. She has a cousin in the Highlands.
Gerrie the inquisitive cow
Star of the series. A nine year old cow who is interested in anything and everything.
Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather William
Farmer Bill's forebear who laid the hedgerows that ow surround his fields.
Helen the Vet
An expert on grass. Not to be confused with Ruddy Faced Helen.
Herbert Goose
As the result of a knock on the head, Herbert migrated to China instead of Canada. He stayed there and learnt Chinese. A source of inspiration for Bertie Pig.
Hobbles Regis
a village to the south of Farmer Bill's home.
Horace the Impressionist Horse An out of work Suffolk Punch horse who has become an itinerant painter in the style of the impressionists.
Jenny Wren
a mercurial resident of the Wood. Often referred to, but rarely speaks. Is a friend of the head of the CIA. She can also write, and won the prize for Most Literary Bird. She lives in a hedgerow.
Learned Owl
Gerrie's pompous but knowledgable friend. Nicknamed Twooster. Runs a podcast titled From The Tree of the Knowledge of Everything.
Learning Owlet
The Learned Owl's son.

Lord Russiloun the fox
a con artist.
Monika Nightingale
Mummy Cow Gerrie's mum
With the assistance of the Mother Cow Institute, she built the makeshift dry dock for Bertie Pig's trireme and cakes for the crew.
Noble Rabbit
Confused by christological theology.
Non Farmer Will Farmer Bill's disreputable brother
Paper Boy Roy
Delivers the Dorset Echo to Farmer Bill.
Percy Pig
Bertie's cleverer brother.
Professor Mrs Owl
Learned Owl's wife, even cleverer than he is.
Ralph the Red Squirrel
Friend of Gerrie's and Rudy the Pinetree Reindeer.
Riverside Ratty
Mentioned in 31st May interview. Not seen yet.
Robin the Robin
a friend of Gerrie's.
Rudy the Pinetree Reindeer
Friendly but thick.
Ruddy Faced Helen
Farmer Bill's farm hand.
Siberian Husky
Occasional visitor. Generally seen chasing a criminal. Closely followed by his Mountie owner.
Percival the Homing Pigeon
Owner unknown. Like Herbert Goose, his sense of direction is not very good.
Tecumseh Squirrel
Augustine Squirrel's son. Likes to start wars.
Tiercel (or Tercel) Owl Triplets
Like acting and chasing shooting stars.
Trinny the Eel
usually causes mischief in the river but told Gerrie about how electricity is made.
The Venerable Robinson Tortoise
Farmer Phil's late companion, He died at the age of 128
